And the winner is...me!

Actually, I havent won any of sew mama sew's giveaways. But it turns out I won something even better - the chance to stay in my condo for 4 more years! At my med school, the 1st 2 years are in Kansas City learning from books and lectures. Then years 3 and 4 are spent in either Kansas City or Wichita. All students are given the chance to choose, but since 1/3 must go to Wichita there is a lottery to place remaining students. This year there were 11 spots to fill in Wichita (since most people want to stay in KC) and a lottery decided the winners and losers. In this case, the 11 people picked are the losers and the remaining 125 are the winners. I was a winner!! This is good news because I wasnt looking forward to trying to sell my condo in 2 years. Yay!

In knitting news, I've completed the sweater ornament for my grandma - Harry Potter style. I'll post a picture later since I'm to lazy to find my camera. I've also knit and unraveled a hat twice now, and I'm still trying to figure out how to make it work. Its chunky yarn and I have 15 circular needles for it, the problem is that I got 29in needles instead of 16, so its virtually impossible to spread the stitches around to make something hat size. I just need to buy some more needles I guess.

Since pictures are good and posts are boring without them, here is a picture of my cat with the wonton catnip toy I made him.

Give Away Day = Big Distration

This morning I set my alarm for 7 to get up early and study for my upcoming CardioPulm test. But unfortunately I hit 7pm instead of 7am. By the time I finally got up and ready to go it was 10:30. Naturally this was a bad start to my day. I headed out to Panera as my goto study spot, ordered a sandwich and sat down ready to start podcasting last weeks lectures. But before I began I decided to run though my daily "email - facebook - blog check" routine. Bad idea.

I immediately realized that today is Sew Mama Sew's give away day. There are well over 100 blogs participating in giving away free goodies. Needless to say I spend about 3 hours trying to win adorable tote bags, homemade marshmallows, knitted scarves, patterns, etc. It was a wonderful way to spend 3 hours, but I really should have been learning about how action potential is generated in the heart. All this time looking at crafts makes me really want to finish up my christmas knitting projects. Its a long list, so it'll take some time:

-M sweater ornament for grandma [done]

-Chunky knit hat for grandma to wear (she has had the same white hat since I was 5 yrs old)

-P stocking ornament for grandpa

-Chunky knit hat for grandpa since I cant make one for my grandma and not my grandpa

-Tissue holders (x4) for various family members

- J sweater or stocking or hat ornament for my mom

-Ribbed cowl and seed stitch arm warmers for me

-Full size stocking for Malinda [done]

I've now wasted so much time thinking about christmas presents and trying to win give aways that I decided to write my first blog post. As you can see my blogs will mostly consist of pointless ramblings about tests and knitting projects, with occasional funny clinic stories. In the spirit of give away day, the first person to find this blog and post a comment will win a stocking ornament with a design of their choice (fair isle, letter, zig zag, tree) with the base pattern found here. But if you live outside the US you might not get it until after christmas. This is an example I made for myself:

I guess its time to finally start studying, so have a happy give away day!!
